Preamble

Wu Zhiwei

Wu Zhiwei, founder of Dayou Gallery, restorer of ancient paintings, nicknamed Dayou Brother, has focused on calligraphy and painting for more than twenty years.

Born in 1982 in Hubei province, Dayou studied painting and calligraphy framing and antique painting restoration under Mr. Zhao Lexin, the founder of Mingdezhai, in 1999 at Wende Road, Guangzhou, and then founded a painting and calligraphy framing studio in Zhuhai in 2003, and because of the need to add brushes and full color to restore paintings and calligraphy, he enrolled in a calligraphy training course in 2004 with the famous calligrapher Mr. Liang XIII (Liang XIII is currently the vice-chairman of Guangdong Hard Brush Calligraphers Association and the chairman of Zhuhai Hard Brush Calligraphers Association). In 2004, he enrolled in the calligraphy training course of the famous calligrapher Mr. Liang XIII (Liang XIII is currently the vice-chairman of Guangdong Hard Brush Calligraphers Association and chairman of Zhuhai Hard Brush Calligraphers Association) and studied calligraphy for two periods.
In 2007, he failed to start a gallery business and returned to the farming industry. Later in 2011, he formally founded Da You Gallery and got Mr. Lu Youguang, a famous calligrapher in Guangdong Province, to inscribe the signboard “Dayou Gallery”, which has been nicknamed Dayou since then. During his years of practice, he has framed and restored countless famous calligraphers and paintings, and his business has spread all over the country, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, as well as Europe, America, New Malaysia, and Thailand.
On January 23, 2020, when the new epidemic broke out, I returned to Guangdong from Hubei and was quarantined at home for 14 days. I saw a lot of life and death and sighed about the impermanence of life, so I had the dream of becoming a calligrapher and painter, and immediately contacted my old friend, the famous artist Professor Liang Peihao (formerly a professor of Hubei Academy of Fine Arts and a great disciple of Mr. Guan Shangyue), and requested to learn from him. After many efforts, he officially joined Professor Liang Peihao in July 2020 to learn the art under him.
