Pan Fang was born in Guangzhou in 1957. Member of the Democratic League. He is a senior national artist, an artist of the Guangzhou branch of the Central Academy of Fine Arts of the Guangdong Democratic League, an advisor of the Foshan City Youth Art Association, a painter of the Painting Institute of the Nanhai District CPPCC, and a holder of the national qualification for urban sculpture creation and design.

In 1977, he entered the Guangzhou Fine Arts Studio (predecessor of the Municipal Painting Institute), graduated from the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts in 1990, and further studied at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 1995 (the first National Urban Sculpture Kubasov Advanced Study Course).
Main exhibits and representative works: In 1989, the sculpture “Ancient Rhythm” (a large stone sculpture group on the exterior wall of the South Yue King Museum in the Western Han Dynasty) won six domestic and international gold medals. It was regarded as a model of the perfect combination of architecture and sculpture.
In 2008, the sculpture “Imagery – Wise Man” won the best prize in the “First Guangdong Sculpture Exhibition”, and in 2009, it was selected for the “Chinese Gesture – First Chinese Sculpture Exhibition”.
In 2009, the sculpture “Smiling Marx” was selected for the “11th National Art Exhibition and Award Nominated Works Exhibition”.
In 2014, the sculpture “Sorrowful Wind – Qu Yuan” was selected for the 12th National Art Exhibition.
In 2017, the sculpture “Ben” was selected for the Ninth National Sports Art Exhibition.
In 2006 the large-scale Chinese white jade group sculpture “Rhyme” was inaugurated in Dongguan Yulan Grand Theatre.
In 2012, the sculpture “Wisdom of the East – Confucianism” is now standing in the United States of America and is permanently collected by the United States and Guangzhou Sculpture Park respectively.
In 2014 the sculpture “Michelangelo” was selected for the Sino-German Sculpture Exhibition.

In 2017, the exhibition “369 Dimensions – Three Generations of Pan He, Pan Fang, and Pan Hongchang” was held in Guangzhou.

Pan Fang’s work “Smiling Marx” was included in the canon of “Guangdong Centennial Art Exhibition”. Guangdong Museum of Art has a permanent collection. His works have won various international, national and provincial gold medals or awards and have been included in important art books such as “China’s Centennial Sculpture”, “People’s Sculptor”, “China Design Recommendation” and “Sculpture Influencing the Development of Chinese Art in the 20th Century”.
