Ye Jimin, born in 1950, is a calligraphy and painting enthusiast, a native of Xiao’ao Village, Lianjiang County, Fujian Province, and a graduate of the “Old Third Class”. After the Cultural Revolution, he returned to his hometown and mastered more than ten kinds of folk crafts and non-heritage crafts: construction work, antique furniture making, wood carving (flowers and birds), painting (tung oil boiling), barrel craft, antique plaque making, raw lacquer and gold public welfare, glasswork, glass engraving and painting, computer cutting words, lightbox advertising. After immigrating to the United States, he often volunteers to write inscriptions for various associations and set up venues for events. Every year, he writes Spring Festival couplets under the bridge in Chinatown’s Yidong Building. He is now a member of the Chinese American Calligraphy Association, a member of the Chinese American Calligraphy Association, the Chinese Secretary of the American Lianjiang Association, and the Chinese Secretary of the American Lianjiang Xiao’ao (Area) Association.
