Ren Wentian

Ren Wentian, pseudonym Wentian, No. Huetangzi, alias Master Sanyuzhai. Born in December 1941, he is a native of Huoqiu, Anhui Province. He is a member of the Chinese Calligraphers Association, the second executive director of the Jiangsu Calligraphers Association, and now an honorary director; former vice-chairman and secretary-general of the Calligraphy Association of the Army in Jiangsu, and a member of the Nanjing Printing Society. He studied under the famous calligrapher Mr. Wu Zhongqi in the 1970s. He excels in real, running, and cursive calligraphic styles, and works in seal carving. His calligraphy goes back to the Jin and Wei dynasties, and then to the Ming and Qing dynasties. He is a master of the art of calligraphy. He is one of the most representative calligraphers in the contemporary military. In 2000, he was invited to participate in a large-scale teaching film “Five Styles Calligraphy Demonstration” by 50 contemporary Chinese calligraphers. In 2000, he was invited to participate in a large teaching film of the “Five Forms of Calligraphy” by 50 contemporary Chinese artists.
His calligraphic works were awarded excellent prizes in the exhibition of works by members of the Chinese Calligraphers Association of Jiangsu Province; two first prizes in the calligraphy and seal engraving competition for the whole army’s health care knowledge; third prize in the Shandong Heze International Peony Painting and Calligraphy Competition; his calligraphy and seal engraving works were sent to Japan for many times, and his calligraphy works were selected for the third and fifth national calligraphy exhibitions, and his seal engraving works were selected for the first national seal engraving art exhibition. His calligraphy works were selected for the 3rd and 5th National Calligraphy Exhibition. His calligraphic works have been included in the “Fan Collection of Contemporary Chinese Calligraphy and Painting”, “Collection of Contemporary Chinese Ink Painting”, “Selected Calligraphy and Seal Carving Works from Jiangsu”, “Dictionary of Modern Chinese Calligraphy”, “Dacheng of Contemporary Chinese Calligraphy Art”, “Chinese Calligraphers’ Association Members’ Guide”, “Who’s Who in Contemporary Chinese Art”, etc.
