Lin Jinquan, originally from Changle District, Fuzhou City, Fujian Province, studied in the art department of Fujian Provincial Art School in 1964 and worked in the city arts after graduation in 1968. He has a lifelong love of painting and calligraphy and has studied hard and worked tirelessly. His works are unique and have a strong infectious effect. His oil and gouache paintings, whether landscapes, flowers, or portraits, are rich in color, moderate in warmth and cold, full of layers, clear in main and secondary, subtle in perspective, strong in three-dimensional texture, dignified and bright, deep and rich, and full of classical beauty when viewed from a distance. He is good at calligraphy and Chinese painting, with crisp and vigorous lines, and an elegant and elegant tone, with the style of a modest gentleman. He is good at all four styles of calligraphy, going back to the Jin and Tang dynasties, practicing all the monuments and posters, and creating a new style of calligraphy, especially the regular, official, and linear Wei steles. He is known for his versatile ink colors and rhythmic clarity, his strong bones and atmospheric elegance, his vigorous and measured strength, his rigidness and softness, and his smoothness. His works are often published in newspapers and magazines, and he has participated in many large-scale exhibitions in Hong Kong, Taiwan, China, Singapore, and the United States, and has won many prizes, and many of his works have been collected by individuals and groups at home and abroad.
