Li Xiaobai was born in Guangzhou in 1958 and is originally from Xinhui, Guangdong. In his early years, he studied at the Guangdong Arts and Crafts School and the Painting Department of the Guangzhou Amateur Art University, and then at the graduate class of the Department of Chinese Painting of the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts and the advanced study class of the Studio of Li Yansheng of the China National Academy of Painting. He is now a member of the China Artists Association, a researcher of the Painting and Calligraphy Institute of the Central Academy of Culture and History, a painter of Liu Dawei’s studio in the first figure painting class of the China National Academy of Painting, a director of the Guangdong Provincial Art Association, a director of the Guangdong Provincial Calligraphy Association, the chairman of the Guangzhou Literary Arts Volunteers Association, the vice-chairman of the Guangzhou Artists Association, the vice-chairman of the Guangzhou Baiyun District Federation of Literary and Art Circles, and the chairman of the Guangzhou Baiyun District Art Association.
His works of Chinese painting, “The Three Jets of Lingnan”, were selected in the 8th National Art Exhibition in 1994, “Living in Peace and Happiness” was selected in the 3rd National Chinese Painting Exhibition in 2007, and “Xiang Yun Ci Guang Tu” was selected in the 1st National Landscape Painting Exhibition of China Art Association “Great Beauty Guanyin Mountain” in 2019 and won the prize. His calligraphic works were selected for the “10th Anniversary National Calligraphy Invitation Exhibition of the Chinese Calligraphers Association”, etc. He was awarded the second prize for each painting and calligraphy in Guangzhou.
He has held solo exhibitions in the United States, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan. He has published 8 books of his paintings. His biography is included in the monographs “Who’s Who of Chinese Artists” and “Who’s Who of Chinese Calligraphers and Painters”.
