Hou Shaoyan

Hou Shaoyan was born on February 18, 1934. He is a native of Jiexi County, Guangdong Province, and now lives in Bangkok, Thailand. He is a graduate of the Master’s Program in Calligraphy of Capital Normal University in China and a calligrapher in Thailand. He is currently the director and deputy secretary-general of the Thai-Chinese Art Association, the advisor of the Wenhua Ge Painting and Calligraphy Institute of the Ministry of Culture of China, and the vice-chairman of the Thai-Chinese Cultural Association of Thailand. His calligraphic works are unique and elegant, showing the hills and valleys in his chest and the smoke and clouds at the bottom of his wrist, allowing the audience to feel his love for life through his works.
